A Word from Wenz

Whoa, where has the 2018 season gone? We have just two games to go before we hit Finals action in the ANZ Premiership.

I obviously have my own reasons for not wanting this season to finish! You’d think I would be looking forward to kicking off the sneakers after 16 years playing for the franchise but to be honest, it’s not something I have my head around completely just yet. I might have to get some wise advice from my former comrades during our 20-year Sting Reunion this weekend!

I’m certainly not doubting that I’ve made the right decision, but the prospect of this chapter in my netball journey closing stirs up plenty of emotion. So my focus is just to enjoy the games we have left this season as a team because there will be plenty of time for reflection later. Besides, we still have work to do as we’re determined to achieve our aim of back-to-back titles.

This ANZ Premiership has been unpredictable with plenty of upsets. The competition ladder is congested and, while we have secured home turf advantage for either the grand final on August 12 or the elimination final on August 8, our opponent is yet to be determined.

The Tactix, Magic and Mystics remain firmly in the hunt and that sets up one heck of a Super Sunday in Auckland tomorrow.

We know the Magic will be desperate to keep their finals dream alive so we’re expecting a tough encounter where they throw every trick in the book at us. Tune in live on Sky Sport from 6pm.

Earlier in the day, the Pulse will meet an equally-determined Tactix at 2pm, while the Mystics take on the Stars in the decider for northern bragging rights at 4pm.

Our dedicated team-behind-the-team is continuing their hard work producing our Steel games and events and I hear this year’s Gala Dinner is shaping up to be awesome. Tickets are on sale this Monday, July 23, from our home-away-from-home, the Ascot Park Hotel. Don’t miss out – we would love to see you there to celebrate our season.

Cheers,

Wenz
