Steel inspired by Black Caps

Cricket fever is in full swing throughout New Zealand and the Steel camp is no exception.

The Black Caps sensational semi-final victory over South Africa is testament to what can be achieved by a team united in its quest.

With five runs needed to book a ticket to their first World Cup final, Grant Elliot whacking a six on the penultimate ball is what legends are made of.

We don’t need to look any further than that for inspiration as we head into Sunday night’s clash against the Mystics in Auckland.

This encounter shapes as crucial for both teams under the competition’s new conference format. Refreshed and eager to get back into the thick of the action after our bye weekend, we are determined to add to our points tally and deliver our own tenacious performance – just what our fans have come to expect from this team.

Stacked with seven current international players and two former Silver Ferns, the Mystics boast a formidable line up. After collecting the wooden spoon in 2013, they earned 7th in last year’s ANZ Championship and desperately need to chalk up wins in order to continue the upward trend.

Our mission is to hit them for six without being bowled over by their defenders. #madeofsteel

The Black Caps victory on Tuesday night was the greatest advertisement for sport I have witnessed in some time. First the drama … how magnificently entertaining was this match? The emotional rollercoaster between despair and disbelief through to joy and total belief was one hell of a ride. I felt sick in my stomach one second and was leaping from the couch the next, punching my fists in approval at a piece of Black Caps brilliance.  Click Here to read more
