About Us

At the completion of the National Bank Cup netball competition in 2007, Southland and Otago joined forces to make a bid for one of the five New Zealand teams in the ANZ Championship in 2008. The Southern Sting and Otago Rebels franchises were merged to create the Southern Steel. 

Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel is 100% owned by Netball South

 

Regions

The Southern region of New Zealand is now proudly represented in the ANZ Championship by the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel - formed through the original amalgamation of two regional netball entities - Netball Otago and Netball Southland.

 

Netball South Zone

These two organisations merged to form the Netball South zone on 1st December 2012 and are now responsible for the development and administration of all netball in Otago and Southland.

 

The Netball South Board of Directors is made up of:

The Edgar Centre is Dunedin’s premium Events Centre. It is a two storey multi-functional amenities building and is the largest single building indoor sports arena in the Southern Hemisphere.
