- Support the amateur game by having the opportunity to share expertise and grow the standard of coaching in the region.
The Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel represents the Southern region in the ANZ Premiership and lead the development of elite players in the region. Netball has a proud tradition of widespread participation and sporting excellence from grassroots Netball through to the ANZ Premiership and the Silver Ferns. The Southern Steel have a history of success in elite competitions and a track record of producing Silver Ferns.
The Southern Steel are seeking a Head Coach reporting to the Netball South Chief Executive to lead the Southern Steel campaign into the 2025 ANZ Premiership and to continue the development of an elite netball performance programme in the Southern region.
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver a world class netball campaign that is capable of winning the ANZ Premiership and is developing players within the programme to be ready to transition to international netball. To do this the Head Coach will need to:·
- Develop a campaign plan
- Lead the recruitment and retention of players aligned to their vision for the game
- Build a support team whose roles and responsibilities are clear
- To foster a high-performance team environment
- Grow a team performance culture based on the values of the Southern Steel
As the figure head of performance netball in the region the Head Coach will be expected to engage with the Netball Community in the region to champion the development of local talent that can transition to the Steel in the future. Part of the role is an expectation to deliver to the community game, with detail of this to be discussed with the successful candidate, especially as to how the level of delivery will impact the time commitment of the role.
Applicants must have a proven track record of coaching in high performance netball at elite domestic (ANZP, SSN or VSL) or international level, and be able to demonstrate the ability to both build a winning team and develop individual players. The ability to work across multiple levels of the game, and strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills that generate mutual trust and respect are essential.
This position is a fixed term appointment for 8 months with provision for the role to be fulltime for up to 12-months. The role will require significant involvement and engagement with both organisations.
