A Word from Wenz
Eleven goals. In netball, that’s not just a loss - in fact, it’s pretty much regarded as a good old-fashioned hiding.
It’s also the winning margin the Pulse managed to rack up on us when we met in the opening round on May 7. A disjointed team display forced us to reflect on our own individual performances and some brutally honest assessments emerged - and that’s a good thing!
The Pulse has been in excellent form in the early stages of the 2018 ANZ Premiership and we’re heading into the rematch with a lot of respect for our opponent. We are also determined history won’t repeat.
Nine days is a long time to wait for a game so you bet we are all super pumped. We’ve had a solid week of training to prepare both physically and mentally and done our homework on the Pulse.
Now we’re four games into the season, you would have seen our newest recruit Courtney Elliott in action. She moved to the other end of the country with just a few days’ notice to pursue her netball dreams but the commitment is already paying off.
She’s earned court time in every game and secured some crucial possession for us and I reckon she’s got a big future in our sport. Off the court, she’s slotting into our environment so well.
We’re back at our Steel fortress ILT Stadium Southland on Sunday for our first encounter with the Stars - a side which features international talent in all thirds of the court with Silver Fern Grace Kara in the midcourt, shooter Maia Wilson under the post and tenacious England captain Ama Agbeze in the defensive ranks.
We’re keen to see packed houses as our season progresses and the good guys at The Hits in Otago and Southland have a special offer for tickets to our remaining home games. It’s available for one week only so check out the details below and get yourself courtside!
Cheers,
Wenz
