It's scientifically-proven chocolate releases feel-good endorphins and that was certainly the case for Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel fans this week.

Former Australian international Natasha Chokljat staged her highly-anticipated debut in Steel colours and her impact was undeniable as the southerners notched up a crucial victory over the Haier Central Pulse.

Paula Griffin experienced the thrill of victory just twice during her two-year stint with the Central Pulse – a tally she's already achieved in just a month with the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel.

The former Silver Fern shooter has effectively had to learn how to win again but it's a feeling she aims to savour on a regular basis.

"I think a whole lot of different things since I came down here about winning. I've learned a lot more in terms of how to win ... it's been really good," Griffin said.

"It feels really different. The expectations in the Steel are to win and everyone at the Pulse expected us to lose.

Former international called into Steel squad

Former Silver Fern Jodi Brown will join the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel in Perth tonight as it prepares to take on the West Coast Fever on Saturday.
 
Dunedin-based Brown, who played for the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in last year's ANZ Championship, is a temporary replacement for Hayley Saunders for the round six game. Saunders has not travelled to Australia with the team following the sudden passing of her father, Mike, last week.
