A Word from Wenz

We’re determined to keep our ANZ Premiership record at our Steel fortress firmly intact as we contest our final round robin game on home turf at ILT Stadium Southland tonight.

Earning a reputation for formidable defence, our opponents the Tactix have ruffled a few teams this season. Just one goal has separated us during our two previous encounters and after chalking up a victory each this the ultimate decider.

But there’s more at stake than just South Island bragging rights. The competition ladder is congested and every point counts as we hunt for a spot in the finals series and that highly-coveted home court advantage.

We’re heading into this match confident we are finally starting to hit our form and execute a strong game plan with the consistency which has alluded us in the opening stages.

Last week we notched up a solid 76-60 win over the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic - a satisfying performance and I was impressed with my team’s tenacity in the second half to finally take control in an otherwise tight tussle.

Off the court we’ve had a fun week spending time with some of our Junior VIP members at both the Steel Movie Party and an exclusive training session. Yesterday we even joined the fun at ILT KidZone with the team from Road Safety Southland and had a blast!

KidZone is such a unique event and showcases yet another positive Southland initiative. How lucky are we to live in a community willing to think outside the square and make things happen.

Cheers,

Wenz
